Accountant
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide crucial accounting tasks to support the finance department, using Microsoft Excel, Intuit QuickBooks, and GAAP to ensure accurate financial reporting and control.
Duties include:
- Manage and maintain the general ledger and all related accounts with proper documentation and records of all business transactions; review entries to the general ledgers to assure accuracy and compliance with established accounting principles; control all changes to the chart of accounts.
- Complete the monthly and year end closing of the general ledger including preparation of journal entries and identification and resolution of any discrepancies.
- Maintain computerized accounting system, backup control, and assist other accounting staff with questions and the printing of generated reports and statements.
- Administer preparation of the interim, year-end and comparative financial reports and statements; perform and provide analysis of current results to prior periods and/for budget; and present financial reports to management.
- Use GAAP to ensure financial requirements are satisfied.
- Prepare required government reports as directed by management and respond to inquiries as necessary.
- Use advanced features of Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, and reporting automation.
- Use TurboTax and related tax-filing processes.
- Oversee Accounts Receivable and billing functions, ensuring timely collection of payments.
- Prepare monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliation for all accounts, including monthly variance analysis and audit-ready documentation; verify accuracy of bank statements; identify and resolve discrepancies; maintain integrity of cash balances and cash flow systems.
- Manage cash on a daily basis to ensure sufficiency of funds to pay bills.
- Prepare biweekly payroll, inside and outside commissions.
- Prepare forms for contractors, including Forms 1099 and 1095-c and completing necessary filing procedures.
- Maintain fixed asset records and control; determine terms/rates to apply to capitalized items; prepare property and sales tax returns; identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Work closely with CPA in coordination of the year-end review and preparation of schedules and documents.
- Responsible for automation ongoing review of all business tasks to ensure that the job is completed in the most efficient manner, to include overhead cost reviews to ensure that the business is calculating and obtaining the best foreign currency rates and value to make effective decisions on cost of foreign equipment when required.
- Work closely with financial institutions, suppliers, customers, and the CPA.
- Responsible for ongoing employee benefits administration; annually, review options with broker to ensure benefits for, medical and business insurance are cost effective.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in accounting, finance, or business administration with a concentration in finance or accounting. Employer will accept foreign equivalent education.
- 24 months of experience in an accounting position focused on financial reporting and/or control, to include each of the following: (a) Preparing and presenting financial reports. (b) Coordinating Accounts Payable and billing activities.
(c) Working with financial statements.
(d) Using advanced features of Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, and reporting automation. (e) Using accounting software such as Intuit QuickBooks and/or ACCPAC. (f) Using GAAP and/or IFRS and ensuring financial reporting requirements are satisfied.(g) Reconciling bank and balance sheet, including monthly variance analysis and audit-ready documentation. (h) Identifying and resolving discrepancies in financial records.
- Experience must also include 6 months working with IRS Forms 1099 and 1095-c and filing requirements, as well as using TurboTax and related tax filing processes.
Physical Requirements
- Include the ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods; lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally; manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment; and vision abilities, including close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Pay: $55,000/year
Expected hours: 40 per week
