Door Access Control FAQ

Common questions about door access for Southern Nevada businesses and properties — installation, outages, credentials, and support.

Common questions about AccessNet

Can't find what you need? Email sales@isp.net or call 702.900.0000 — our Las Vegas team is available 24/7.

AccessNet is a fully managed door access control system designed, installed, and supported by our Las Vegas team across Southern Nevada. It replaces traditional keys with electronic door readers and locks that you manage through a hybrid cloud/premises platform — local hardware keeps doors working on-site while cloud management gives you remote control and audit logs.

Power over Ethernet (PoE) delivers data and power through a single network cable to each reader, simplifying installation and improving reliability.

Because isp.net manages both your network and your access control, you have one vendor to call — no finger-pointing between IT and security installers.

Physical keys cannot tell you who entered or when. Rekeying locks after every staff change is expensive and disruptive. Door access control lets you grant, restrict, and revoke entry in seconds — with a time-stamped log of every door event.

Yes. The AccessNet system stores all user permissions and schedules directly on the local hardware at your facility. As long as the system has power, it will continue to grant or deny access based on the last synced credentials, even with a complete internet outage.

Once internet connectivity is restored, all the activity that occurred during the outage (door unlocks, access attempts, etc.) will be automatically uploaded to the management platform, so you will have a complete log of events.

Yes. We power AccessNet using Power over Ethernet (PoE) from the network switch. As part of installation, we connect critical switches to custom lithium battery backup systems engineered to keep your access control — and your network — operational for at least 4 hours (up to 30 hours) during a complete power outage.

Standard Entry Methods

  • NFC Cards & Fobs: Use an issued, encrypted NFC card or key fob for a quick and secure tap-to-enter experience.
  • Mobile Access: Unlock doors from your smartphone using the mobile app — tap a button or hold your phone near the reader.
  • PIN Codes: For readers with a keypad, a unique PIN code can be used for entry.

Visitor & Temporary Access

  • QR Codes: Generate time-limited QR codes for visitors, contractors, or temporary staff. The guest presents the code on their phone to the reader.

Advanced Security & Logging

  • Facial Recognition for Verification: With compatible hardware, integrated cameras can identify the person at the door and tag the access event with their photo for an audit trail.
  • Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Require two credentials — such as an NFC card and a unique PIN — before the door unlocks on sensitive areas.

Yes. The UniFi Protect app lets you unlock doors remotely, view access logs, manage user credentials, and use your phone as a mobile key.

Yes. Generate time-limited QR code passes and send them directly to a visitor's smartphone. They present the code at the door reader — no badge printer or front-desk pickup required. Every visit is logged in your audit trail.

AccessNet Standard — Best for a single door or small business that needs reliable electronic access without complexity. Card, fob, mobile, and PIN entry with a full audit trail — fully installed and managed by isp.net.

AccessNet Advanced — Best for main entrances and multi-door properties. Adds video intercom at the front door, support for multiple entrances, and the flexibility to grow as you add doors, users, and locations.

Not sure which fits? Our team sizes the system during a site survey — call 702.900.0000 or email sales@isp.net.

Every AccessNet deployment uses professional-grade components selected and configured by isp.net — you do not shop for parts or coordinate separate installers.

Typical building blocks include a PoE Network Switch (powers and connects door readers over Ethernet), door readers and controllers such as the G3 Reader and Door Hub, and a Network Video Recorder (NVR) when video logging is part of your design. Advanced entrances may include a G3 Intercom with an integrated camera.

Exact equipment depends on your doors, layout, and package. We handle specification, installation, and support.

Yes. AccessNet supports video intercom with compatible hardware — including the G3 Intercom on the AccessNet Advanced package. See and speak with visitors at your main entrance and grant access from the intercom screen or remotely from the mobile app.

Legacy access control is built around a central panel with a fixed number of ports. AccessNet has no such limitations. Because the system is entirely IP-based, it is decentralized — each door's smart Access Hub is its own device on the network. To add another door, you simply need an available port on a network switch.

This architecture makes AccessNet infinitely scalable in practice — you can grow from one door to hundreds across multiple buildings and locations, managing every entrance online whether you have one office or multiple sites.

Yes. For properties with gated entry points, compatible AI-powered cameras can automatically read license plates, check them against an authorized vehicle database, and grant hands-free access to approved vehicles — eliminating the need for remotes or key fobs while keeping a log of every entry.

Yes. AccessNet runs on isp.net's managed infrastructure, including private network connections between your site and our systems. Sensitive access data is stored locally at your facility and synchronized securely — isolated from casual public-internet exposure while still giving you remote management when connectivity is available.

The best way is to think in terms of risk, not just room names. Ask yourself these key questions:

  • Where are our most valuable assets and sensitive data, like server rooms or HR files?
  • What areas, if compromised, would halt our business operations?
  • Do we need different security levels for specific departments, like finance or executive suites?
  • Have we secured every potential entrance, including side doors, loading docks, and gates?

Answering these questions reveals your true security needs. Our team can then conduct a professional site survey to design an AccessNet solution that protects these critical points.

We plan installation during your site survey and schedule work around your hours — including evenings and weekends when needed. Because AccessNet uses PoE, wiring is faster and cleaner than legacy systems, so most businesses see minimal disruption.

Call 702.900.0000 or email support@isp.net — our team is available 24/7. You can also create a support ticket at Portal.isp.net. As a fully managed service, isp.net handles remote troubleshooting and dispatches local technicians when an on-site visit is needed.
